Beyond Denials: Lab Coding and Reimbursement for Molecular Diagnostics
Course Description:
Are coding updates and billing regulations keeping your lab in non-payment limbo? In order to ensure fair, accurate and prompt payment, it’s essential for lab managers to be up-to-date on coding rules and billing guidelines.
Handling thousands of claims requires careful management, systems and standards. The billing process is complex and laden with regulatory pitfalls and legal landmines. Regulations are in constant flux and standards for government and commercial payers are varied and often mind-boggling.
Let CCM and our coding expert(s) help you get up to speed on coding updates and billing guidelines. In this indispensable audio conference you’ll learn best practices for designing a coding and billing system that works for your lab along with the knowledge you need to get claims paid quickly and accurately.
By the end of this 75 minute session, you’ll know:
- The latest coding and reimbursement changes
- How to create CPT coding for Molecular Infectious Disease
- AMA CPT codes defined and unraveled
- How to interpret and handle claim payments and denials
- Tactics for handling medically unlikely edits (MUEs)
- Compliant coding challenges specific to molecular and pathology services
- Best practices for billing of molecular assays
- Modifiers and how they affect component billing
- Advice for handling Advance Beneficiary Notices (ABNs) and the Correct Coding Initiative (CCI)
