New ADA Amendments Act: What Employers Must Know to Comply
Course Description:
The EEOC’s long-awaited regulations under the ADA’s Act Amendment Act (ADAAA) were issued in final form on March 25, 2011. The regulations will become effective on May 24, 2011 — and their impact on business will be anything but simple.
The new regulations are designed to simplify the determination of who has a “disability.” Basically, that means the rules make it significantly easier for employees to take advantage of the ADA’s protections.
Find out how to comply with the law's multifaceted obligations in this comprehensive audio conference. In just 75-minutes our employment law expert will explore how the new rules will affect your policies and procedures, plus:
- Why Congress amended the Act,
- What the amendments are,
- What the newly released final regulations say, and
- How these regulations will work for both employers and people with disabilities.
Course Highlights:
During this interactive session, you’ll also learn:
- The full list of various conditions that “in virtually all cases” meet the definition of disability based on certain characteristics associated with these impairments, including OCD, HIV, PTSD, and more
- Which “major life activities” the EEOC has added to the disability analysis
- What the new law says about transitory and minor impairments
- “Regarded as disabled” concept and reasonable accommodation under the new regulations
