Employee Privacy in the Electronic Workplace: Best Practices for a Clear, Concise Electronic Resources Policy
Course Description:
Your organization has computer and Internet use policies, confidentiality policies and data protection policies and procedures. IT, HR and corporate counsel have all weighed in and revised them all — so you’re all set right?
Not so fast… even if your policies were deemed comprehensive last year, they could be lacking key points that have arisen in recent FTC actions, court cases and other proceedings.
In fact, you’re expected to deliver a reasonable expectation of privacy for each and every employee at your organization as well as anyone who gives their personal identification information to your company.
Companies are being held to higher and higher standards of data protection, and need to have policies that protect all of their stored - consumer, employee and third party information.
But figuring out where your responsibility ends is becoming more and more difficult… because everything from employee monitoring, to the storing and accessibility of electronic files, emails, texts and network access points (intranets) is a slippery slope in today’s electronic workplace.
Course Highlights:
In this critical audio conference, Industry expert Todd R. Wulffson, of Greenberg Traurig, LLP will present practical advice and case examples to help you avoid costly litigation and tune up your crucial privacy policies.
Some of the key issues/cases he will cover include:
- Navigating the patchwork quilt of state and federal regulations
- Overview of the potential liability from data breaches
- Addressing the new FTC Guidelines and enforcement actions
- How to build Fair Information Practices into everyday business operations
- How to make data practices more transparent to employees and consumers
- Preventing outside access to intranets, and why it matters
- Specific cases where employers were held accountable for events that occurred related to stolen data
- And much more….
Todd will also answer your specific questions in a live Q & A session at the close of the program.
