Smartphones and the Law: Avoiding Legal Liabilities in the Workplace
Course Description:
Smartphones (e.g. iPhone, BlackBerry, Android) seem to be the “must have” business accessory. But, as with many new technologies, the lawsuits come in quicker than companies can draft and enforce policies related to the technology.
In fact, increasingly, plaintiff’s lawyers are looking at smartphone usage as fodder for their latest claims strategy.
Is your organization aware of the financial, regulatory, compliance, privacy, and legal liabilities associated with smartphones in the workplace? Have you taken the proper steps to protect your employees and your organization?
Course Highlights:
During this information-packed audio conference, you will learn the most common liability issues surrounding the use of smartphones at work. You’ll also learn how to mitigate the risk when it comes to:
- Lost devices
- Corporate vs. individual liabilities
- Related state requirements and laws
- Formal portable device policies
- Data breech notifications
- Distracted driving policies
- Wage-an-hour pitfalls
- FLSA regulations and non-exempt employees
