ADA Compliance: Developing a Successful Reasonable Accommodation Process
Course Description:
Most employers dread it – an employee requesting reasonable accommodations under the ADA. Why? Because 1) they’re unsure of how to handle the request, 2) unclear as to what reasonable accommodation actually is, and 3) they’re really not sure of how to respond.
The ADA requires that employers provide accommodations for applicants and employees with disabilities to assure equal employment opportunity. For many employers, understanding when and how they must comply can be complex, especially given the new ADA Amendments Act (ADAAA) regulations recently published.
But handling requests for reasonable accommodations doesn’t have to be so arduous. In fact, while each request must be handled individually to ensure that the accommodation works for that particular situation, employers can implement a process and policy to make this task run smoothly.
