2010 California Labor and Employment Law Update

Course Description:

California is at the forefront when it comes to new developments in employment law. 2010 has brought numerous changes to the state’s myriad laws and regulations involving legislation, enforcement activity, and court decisions surrounding:

  • Wage and Hour Law
  • Discrimination and Retaliation
  • Employee Privacy and E-Discovery
  • COBRA Premium Assistance Extension
  • Leaves of Absence
  • Non-competition Clauses

This program combines a comprehensive review of the Golden State’s regulatory developments, an in-depth analysis of emerging issues, and practical guidance about best practices to maximize employment law compliance and mitigate legal risk.

Course Highlights

Whether your organization is already employing in California, or you’re considering it, this comprehensive audio conference will help you:

  • Identify and understand the major differences in California employment law,
  • Learn which laws and regulations have given California the status of employee friendly,
  • Understand the California differences in the FLSA and federal Wage and hour law,
  • Learn the broader protections in California’s Antidiscrimination and harassment laws, and
  • Understand the differences in leave that California mandates – and learn the ones that are unique to California.

Our California employment law experts will also guide you through:

  • RIFs and Baby WARN Act: Don’t risk terminations without knowing these vital variations
  • Privacy issues and restrictions for employers – as well as access and protection for employees
  • State-specific harassment and discrimination laws
  • Non-competes and other restrictive covenants: What’s legal and what’s not
  • Many other obscure labor code provisions, from lactation privileges to rehab requirements
